STAINED GLASS & MOSAICS
JOYCE MAYERS
JEMOSAICS
ARTIST BIO
For Joyce, mosaics brings together several material qualities she has long loved — color, texture and random design. Joyce loves the color and design of china patterns and the sparkle of glass. She enjoys rescuing beautiful pieces of this and that from the trash and losing herself in the work of fitting these pieces together to create something completely new. Joyce also makes mosaic-like pictures of animals and flowers using bits of fabric.
Joyce came to JUC after retiring and relocating to Maine for half the year. “JUC has been a fantastic place not only to display and sell some of my work, but also for the wonderful group of like-minded artists providing support and encouragement to each other. JUC was such a lucky find at just the right time for me.”
Joyce is a retired litigation attorney very happy to have traded the stress of practicing law for the more satisfying life of creating art. She loves Maine, but returns to Potomac, Maryland for the cold months to spend time with her daughters and grandchildren. When in Maine, you can also find her volunteering at the York Community Services Association thrift store.
